POUBELLE at WG

November 2022, WG Kunst in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Lisbeth Parisius and Mirjam Berloth invited 6 artists to join them in a short exhibition of different approaches with waste materials.

The waste bin, wrappings, rubbish from the streets; it is not unusual for artists to use discarded materials and found objects to create their new artworks.
Those materials that already have a history make an excellent start for assembling new works.

Another reason may be that in this way the artist is protesting consumerism and the outrageous amounts of money that drive the art world.

They find themselves in good company: many who belonged to the Fluxus, Zero and Arte Povera movement came before them. Arte Povera artists sometimes even destroyed their art when the exhibition was over.
