Jens Chr. Jensen
Born 1949 in Denmark
Basic geometric shapes such as the circle, the square, the triangle inspirer Jens Chr. Jensen to experiment with rhythmic compositions of materials, which then become assemblages in larger and smaller formats.
The artist lets the colors of the works and the surfaces of the materials interact with the viewer. This being true whether the works are created in cardboard and paper, in fire and garden hoses or out of industrial elements, such as pipes, nozzles, cables and porcelain bells.
Cultural products, such as piano keys and wooden gaming pieces, also catch the eye of the artist – just to name a few.
An accent of color is often added; A pink dot is often hidden between all the grey-black dominoes.
Also, Jens Chr. Jensen carefully selects only older comics in restrained colors to achieve the desired, well-tempered expression.
Each work series has its season. Each source of inspiration has its own space and its own limitation: the artist keeps processing the materials until they have lost their attraction to him. Fortunately, there is always something to explore.
Here we take a closer look at series such as Hen- og tilbagerejse, Legens Univers, Grænseudstillingerne and Kildesortering; industrial products from trash to gold.
