Jean-Philippe Paumier
Born in 1980 in Tours (France), lives and works in Amsterdam
Jean-Philippe Paumier works with the beauty of everyday things. He therefore often starts a new work with a scavenger hunt in the thrift shop. The objects he finds there already have a story. Such a discovered object with that specific shape and history forms the beginning of a new work. By combining it with other recognisable objects, it gains meaning.
Virtuous Circle#1: a cast of the found car tyre, made of soap. The contrast between the dirty, worn and dark car tyre and the pure material soap is the starting point of this work. Also, the fact that soap when wet becomes very slippery contrasts with the stability function of the car tyre.
