HF van Steensel

Lives and works in Amsterdam.

In their work, van Steensel explores how the object can merge with the person. A pair of work trousers, worn by someone and covered in paint splatters, is essentially that person. In this search, they encounter vulnerability and resistance, which results in sensitive sculptures often composed of just a few materials.

Van Steensel is not looking for anything specific but grasps whatever passes by—snippets of conversations, a movement, a color—which are then combined by them into a completely unique vocabulary.
