The beauty of waste material

The beauty of waste material

BOUW

For POUBELLE’s 5th exhibition, artists were invited to specificly showcase the material and its properties. They make minimal changes, combine a few objects, or display found objects as ready mades on the wall.

A few slats, a pink vase, and the word “throat” make you imagine a world of emotions. Lead-heavy bowling balls take on wings and seem to float. A fungus-infested floor beam has, in a vertical position, become an autonomous object. Pallets covered in used motor oil look like they came straight from the harbor, while next to it a stack of slats looks unstable.

BOUW opened on June 6 with an introduction to the artists and their works. Everyone was invited to sit in the Circle and Chair installation by Lisbeth Parisius. In the days after many more visitors did so, describing their experience as “to be by myself for a little while,” “like being on a ship,” or “soothing, meditative.”
